Bonnie:  Well, another MLC has come and gone. We finally left about 7:00 tonight because Bob had to do some things after all of the missionaries left. The waffles were extra delicious because Sis. Erickson made home-made caramel sauce for them. And, because Bob bought another waffle iron to use at MLC it went much faster. Everything seemed to go well. Also, three of the packages I was waiting for finally arrived for their intended missionaries. It still doesn't make up for the one that got lost, but there's nothing that can be done about that--I've talked to the APs, the Zone Leaders, everyone in the office and even the President and his wife. And we've looked everywhere. It makes me feel badly but there is nothing more to do about it.
Tomorrow should be a quieter day. I hope to figure out the new referral program. I plan on calling SL about it. It's supposed to show a map of where the referral lives, but sometimes it shows downtown SLC right around the temple!! Go figure!!
We have an exciting week-end ahead with the announcing of the three new apostles. We are going to try to watch it from our apartment Saturday. Then, on Sunday we've been invited to Erickson's to watch it. It should be another restful Sabbath. Oh, how I look forward to Sundays.
Well, it's been a long day, so I better let Bob have a chance to write, and then we are going to bed early. Yes!!
Love,
Mom/Bonnie

Bob: Waffle making was fun today. With the 2 waffle makers no one had to wait long. When Elder Barlow came through to get his I put 2 on his plate. He's not a big guy, but in the past he has eaten anything and everything that is left over. So I just started him off with an extra one. He was a good sport about it.
The extra things I had to do after the waffles had to do with a landlord who didn't understand his own lease. He showed up today asking the missionaries to get out. He said the lease was up and he wanted them to move. The problem is we gave him notice in August that we were vacating the apartment on or before October 31. We have paid the rent for October, but he didn't understand that either. In Ontario when you move in you have to initially pay 2 months rent. That is considered the first and last months rent. I paid him on August 20th for September and reminded him that the rent for October had been paid when we moved in. He just couldn't grasp that concept. His son was the listing agent and we called him. He didn't seem to understand either because all he could say was 'your lease ends today'. Well in Canada you do not have to re-sign a lease. If you want to continue to live there you continue to pay your rent on time and don't sign anything. The landlord finally backed off when we told him his son would call him and explain it to him. I guess he finally figured it out. When the missionaries came back to the apartment around 9 the son was leaving in his car. He just waved to the missionaries and smiled. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
Weather never got into the high 60s today. It is getting to be sweater or jacket time. On the way to the office today there were several people at the bus stops with heavy coats on. Saw one guy with his parka pulled up over this head. He must be from someplace south of here.
Love to all and good night, brother.
Love,
Dad/Bob
