October 12, 2015

Bonnie:  It's been a delightful day, full of surprises for our first official Canadian Thanksgiving Day. We went to the office and Bob planned to work most of the day. Sister Erickson did not come in because she was saying good-bye to family that had come up. Elder Erickson said that after working part of the day, they were going to the "Turkey Bowl" held at the Clayton's from 1 to 3. So, Bob decided that we would go, too. It was great fun to watch them playing soccer. The two zones each had their own team, so it was quite the rivalry. The  Sister Missionaries played, too, and one of them gave up a soccer scholarship to go on a mission. You can bet she was great on the field! Then, Brother Barrett showed up and invited us all to his house for Thanksgiving dinner tonight. He had invited several of the missionaries and three YSAs also. I went home from the Turkey Bowl determined to make a blueberry pie to take. It turned out ok, except that my oven is too hot so the crust was burned a little. The rest of it tasted good, though. So, we had another delicious turkey dinner tonight. Bob is taking one of the young men  home as I write. It's been a very good week-end. Tomorrow morning we need to be there a little bit early, because a new Elder is coming to our mission. The training we will do will be at the Mission Office so that will work well. Then, we will have our weekly meeting with the Clayton's, followed by our usual day. We will eat dinner at the mission office and then go straight to our meeting with Bishop Fuller and then to Institute after that. It will be a full day but a good one, I'm sure. I hope everyone's day is full in good ways tomorrow, too!
Love,
Mom/Bonnie

Bob: Been a good day topped off with a another wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. I am beginning to feel a little like the 'stuffed' turkey!
I think the Turkey Bowl went well accept for one Elder getting a toe nail ripped off. Other than that just some sore muscles. After the soccer game, which was won by the Brampton Zone, the Weston Zone prevailed in the regular football game. A few of the Elders looked like pretty good athletes. And the one Sister was excellent with the soccer ball.
Took Shawn home after dinner. He lives about 5 miles away. Made one wrong turn coming back, but quickly recovered. Added a couple miles to my trip.
Tomorrow promises to be a long day. Might not have been the best idea to schedule the appointment with the Bishop on this night, but too late to back track now. All this means Wednesday may be a real long day. Saturday fishing pictures are below.
Well I had better get to bed. Love to all and good night brother.
Love,
Dad/Bob
