Bob: Forgot to tell everyone about Elder Ganowsky's testimony yesterday during Testimony Meeting. He said a General Authority was in our Area talking to the missionaries. As you all know, the missionaries spend a lot of time studying the scriptures. The General Authority told them that they would 'own' a scripture when they lived it. Well Sunday morning Elder Ganowsky said as he was reading in Alma 26 he came across some scriptures he owns. Beginning in verse 28:
"28 And
now behold, we have come, and been forth amongst them; and we have been patient
in our sufferings, and we have suffered every privation; yea, we have traveled
from house to house, relying upon the mercies of the world—not upon the mercies
of the world alone but upon the mercies of God. 29 And we have entered into their houses and taught them, and we have
taught them in their streets; yea, and we have taught them upon their hills;
and we have also entered into their temples and their synagogues and
taught them; and we have been cast out, and mocked, and spit upon, and smote
upon our cheeks; and we have been stoned, and taken and bound
with strong cords, and cast into prison; and through the power and
wisdom of God we have been delivered again. 30 And we have
suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the
means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full
if perhaps we could be the means of saving some."
He said that although he had not been
stoned, bound or in prison, he had experienced much of the other things so that
he felt he now owned these scriptures.
It was a powerful testimony and very
moving. He has been a great missionary and has been serving as one of the
assistants to the President. He goes home on July 29 and he is struggling with
that. He'll be successful in whatever he chooses to do I am sure.
I was told today that we need to get a new apartment in Toronto near Chinatown. Will be starting the search tomorrow. There are a couple people I can call about this if I can just find their phone numbers!
Hope everyone is well.

Bonnie: It's close to 11:00 and I am tired, so I will not write much. We went from the Mission Office directly to the YSA Family Home Evening tonight. It was fun, as usual. We saw two of the Elders out tracting near the church so we invited them in for some fresh fruit and an ice cream sandwich with the other YSAs and then ended up giving them a ride home. They are the only set of missionaries who have to ride buses in Brampton. The others have cars. I'm glad we could help them.
I hope your day has been meaningful in some way. May the Lord bless you all.
Love, Mom/Bonnie
