Bob: A good Sabbath day. Heard some very good talks in Sacrament today about the Atonement, pride/humility, and the unknown potential in us. The Relief Society and Priesthood Meetings were combined today with people from the Employment Services making a presentation. Remember that this Ward is made up of Young, Single Adults ages 19- 30. Not married, no children. Most of them are students or just young working adults. Anyway, the main thrust of the presentation was how they could get a 4 year college degree through BYU Idaho for $65/credit hour. That is an unheard of low, low price for a college degree. And, depending on your GPA you can get a reduced rate. I believe they said there are graduate classes offered too. Anyway, it is open to people all over the world, and they are using it. It is called Pathways. The presenter gave us his email to get further information. It is dazane@ldschurch.org
Munch 'n Mingle was chili and ciabatta bread. People ate it up. Plus there was a lot for seconds as a lot of the Ward was attending a YSA conference in Kingston. The people preparing the food forgot about the conference. So those that were there today were blessed with extras!!
Bonnie spent a lot of time this evening contacting the 4 sets of missionaries in Mississauga area about YSA members down there. We are planning on going down there to their Institute on Tuesday nights to see if there is any interest in attending the Churchville YSA Ward on Sunday. I believe it is about a 20 minute drive from the Mississauga meeting house to the Churchville meeting house.
It was a beautiful day here in Brampton. Not hot, not cold, but perfect. Went for a hour's walk this morning and a short walk this evening with the captain (she got promoted).
Hope everyone had a great day and that you have a wonderful week. Hope Lorraine and Jerry made it back to WV okay. Good night, brother.
Love,
Dad/Bob
Bonnie: This will be short because it's 10:30 or later and I need to go to bed! The sister who gave her talk about the Atonement gave one of my favorite stories. Have any of you heard about the Seminary teacher who had one of his students do push-ups for each member of his class so each student could get a donut? It's a beautiful story about how the Savior died for us whether or not we wanted to take advantage of His Atonement and the blessings it brings. And one other thought I took away with me:
You can count the seeds in an apple but you can't count the apples in each seed! We all have great potential even though we don't know it sometimes. We should never judge others because we don't know their potential and the gifts they have.
With that thought, I close with my wish that each of you have a wonderful day tomorrow and week ahead.
Love,
Mom/Bonnie
