Bob: This post
was put up at the same time May 20, 2015 was posted. Working without internet
at home is causing some problems with posting. But, the installation is
rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon next week. We’ll see how it goes.
Today was another long day. Left for work just after 8 and
left the office at a little past 6. Drove to North York today and closed
another apartment. It was pretty easy today as the elders had almost everything
done when we got there. Some elders are more motivated for cleaning than
others. We’ll see if I’m as lucky next month when I start closing apartments by
myself. We have 3 scheduled for June and I need to send out letters on 2 or 3
more for July. The closings should slow down then as the number of missionaries
will drop to almost 200 which is the goal for the church. Elder Gillen said
there were almost 290 missionaries when he started 17 months ago. He said he
has closed about 40 apartments. 2 a month doesn’t sound bad but the whole
process takes a good bit of time. It has been suggested that I should go look
at the apartment before closing it so I can talk to the Zone Leaders and get
them started on the cleaning and emptying before the final closing. Waiting
till the last minute to do the cleaning, etc. isn’t a good idea.
After we finished dinner tonight, around 7:30 we got ready
and went grocery shopping. The parking for the apartment is underground, so
when we get home we have to ride the elevator up 2 stories. To bring the
groceries up we have a little push cart. I told Bonnie I felt like a dawdling
old man pushing a cart full of groceries. I remember seeing on tv scenes of
very aged people wheeling their groceries in a cart to their apartment. Looks
like we finally made it there!!
It’s past bedtime so good night and love to all.
