Bob: We went to Kirkland Lake today. Visited with Sandra Sandrin, who is First Nation. Had a very interesting talk with her as she is a tribal healer. She had some interesting recommendations for my diabetes. She claims to have cured her diabetes. But she also lost a great deal of weight. That could have played into the picture.
Our next visit was with Michael Dale. He has invited us to a traditional American Thanksgiving dinner on Nov 24th. We had a problem because he wanted Bonnie to cook everything and bring it from here to Kirkland Lake, about an hour trip. He had the turkey, but Bonnie would have to cook it. Sister Janet Hamilton, also of the Kirkland Lake area, also invited us to her house on the 24th for Thanksgiving. She said she would cook Michael's turkey and we could come to her place. When we presented this to Michael today he said he has volunteers to cook everything and that at least 6 potential contacts have confirmed they will be there!! After talking to Janet we are going to go to Michael's on Thursday and then have another dinner at her place on Saturday. We should get our fill of turkey that week.

Bonnie: It was a good day in Kirkland Lake area. We have some interesting members in our Branch! Janet, the sister we visited last, is as tough as they come. She has cut trails in the forests for Ontario power lines, and has used chain saws, and other heavy equipment. She suffers from several health problems because of the hard work she has done. Now, she makes money by renting out bedrooms in her house to hunters. She feeds them and provides everything that they need. The last set of hunters killed a 500 pound bear. She showed us the pictures of it and it was massive. We will provide the turkey for our second Thanksgiving meal on the 26th at her house, as well as green bean casserole and potatoes. What a yummy way to celebrate Thanksgiving this year--with two dinners!
May we all have a good day tomorrow. The Canadian's will be celebrating "Remembrance Day" tomorrow where all of their veterans are honored. Each little town has a service for it at exactly 11:00 am. Bob and I will be wearing a little red flower on our coats as will most of those attending the celebration.

Bob: Another momentous day in our Mission, saying good-bye to some of our missionary friends. And one of the biggest political upsets since the Chicago Daily Tribune proclaimed and printed 'Dewey Beats Truman'. We will see how this plays out in history.
We finally got started back from Brampton around 3:30. That was much later than we had planned on. However, traffic moved well to Barrie and beyond so we made good time. Made our usual stop in Huntsville at the Dairy Queen. Blizzards just seem to get better and better.
We have a big day planned in Kirkland Lake tomorrow so tonight's note will be short. May everyone have a restful night and a great day tomorrow. Love to all and good night brothers.

Bonnie: I still can't believe the election results. I hope the people in our country will eventually rally around our new president-elect. I especially don't want my grandchildren to be upset about it.
We've had a great two days in Brampton. I absolutely love going to the temple with the missionaries who are going home. There was such a sweet spirit there yesterday. Last night we went to eat with the Cannon's and today went to lunch with the Budgett's. After driving around Brampton today, I really appreciate living up here in the "frozen" north. Of course, that may be because it's not "frozen" just yet!! There are few worries having to do with crazy drivers up here and that's so nice.
It's late and we will have a full day tomorrow. Sleep tight, everyone!

Bob: Good evening everyone. We have had a very slow day missionary wise. The sister we wanted to see today was not home so I took Bonnie for a short drive out to Mowat's Landing. I thought besides showing her the place I would take some pictures. However, our camera was dead as a door nail when we got there. As we started back there was a sign that pointed to 'White Pine Lodge'. I have never heard of it so down the lane we went. When we got to the end of the road there was a guy relaxing on the top of his 4 wheeler in the Fall sunshine. I got out and talked to him about the area. He said he has been exploring here for 20 years. He pointed out the lodge across the lake. I later looked it up on the WEB and it looks nice, but too expensive for two people for an extended stay. Anyway I gave him a Mormon.org card.
Tonight we had an appointment with another less active, but he forgot about it. At least we were smart enough to text him and not drive 20 miles to not find him home.
This morning was a bad hair day for the First Mate. She told me her hair 'whorl' was a problem. I had no idea what she was talking about so she explained. I can't remember her saying anything about a whorl before, and besides her hair looked great to me. I told her I am so glad I wasn't born a female because I would probably go crazy as a woman. Women have too many things to worry about. I don't think I could handle it.
Well it is time to get ready for our trip to Brampton. We leave in the morning and come back on Wednesday. We'll be getting flu shots and I'll get an A1C test while down there. Hope your Monday has been great. Our day here was bright and sunny with pleasant temperatures. Love to all and good night brothers.

Bonnie: It has been a slow day. But at least we are ready to leave for Brampton early tomorrow morning. The temple session is at 3:00. We should be able to get there and change in time for it.

I hope everyone had a wonderful day today. I know that tomorrow is voting day in the US. What's interesting to me is that many of the Seniors who live here will be watching the results of the election tomorrow night! I can't believe how impassioned the Canadian's are with this election!

Bob and Bonnie: We realized this morning that we had forgotten to write the blog yesterday. So we'll bring you up to date on yesterday's and today's doings. Yesterday morning I helped Brother and Sister Humphrey move their appliances, couches, etc. to the new home they just bought. In the afternoon Bonnie and I watched the World Wide broadcast about 'Teaching In the Savior's Way'. After the broadcast Sister Cambridge came over so she and Bonnie could work on the invitations for the upcoming Relief Society Activity on November 19.
Today we got an extra hour to sleep in, but it didn't help us much as church now starts an hour earlier than before. No one was fooled by the time change except the Elders. I think they moved their clocks the wrong direction!! After church today we visited Sister Huywan and Sister Craig. Each are in nursing homes here in Haileybury. They are actually just across the street from each other.
That is about it for now. Tomorrow we have some visits to make plus get ready for a 2 day trip to Brampton for a temple session with the returning missionaries.

Bob and Bonnie: Up early to take the YSA to kennel duty again. 5:15 is too early to get up!
Went to Val d'Or and back today. Delivered a dresser and chest of drawers to the Elders. Borrowed Brother Cambridge's truck. He has a tonneau cover on the truck, but about a foot of the chest rested on the tailgate and was uncovered. About an hour into our trip it began to rain and did so off and on for the remainder of the trip. However, we don't think it damaged the chest at all. Maybe the wind from the truck's momentum kept most of the water blown off. Anyway, the Elders were glad to get both items. We also took a rug, lamp, fan and waste basket from our apartment.
Once we ate dinner Bob went to Brother Cambridge's house to help him load his truck and trailer with items from the garage. They are selling their house in town and moving to a remodeled home on a lake about 8 miles out of town. He was back in less than an hour.
Time for bed, especially because of our early rising this morning! Love to all and good night brothers.

Bonnie: Our day started out with giving a ride to one of our YSA friends who needed to be to school by 5 minutes to 6 this morning. It wasn't so bad, actually. After we came back, Bob went swimming, I went back to bed until 7 and then got ready for our day.
We spent the day in Elk Lake, with Bob, Karl and the two Elders cutting up firewood. Patsy and I went to Englehart to take the three foster children for a visit with their parents. The visit took 3 hours, so while we waited, Patsy and I went to visit a friend. It turned out very well, actually. They would make great Mormons, so we will see where this leads! We were treated to sandwiches, salad and a pumpkin dessert, too. We got home after 8:00 because the Elders were getting the oil changed in their vehicle, and we had to pick up their car. So our day was long, but good.
I hope everyone has had a good day, as well.

Bob and Bonnie: Awoke to a wet and damp morning. Able to go for a short walk because it began to rain. However, as the day progressed the temperatures became quite pleasant. Tonight at 7:00 it was actually nice out.
We did visit Donna at the nursing home today and talked with Cathy at Wendys. I found a barber to try and she actually asked me what is the difference between our church and the catholic church. I gave her Elder Ballard's answer and she was impressed. I didn't get an appointment, but will take a restoration pamphlet with me in 4 weeks when I get another haircut.
Activity night went well tonight. We had a small crowd of 9, but it was fun. Delaney is a YSA that is going to school up here. She asked Bonnie at the end of the evening for a ride to school tomorrow by 5 minutes till 6:00 am for "kennel" duty. She is training to become a vetrinarian's aid. The bus doesn't come until 6. It would take her most of an hour to walk so Bonnie will take her. So we have to get to bed. Love to all and good night brothers.
